Flow
4' x 5'
‘Flow’ manifested from my internal affirmation. When I feel like I am fighting the tide, when my preconceived notions of how I want a painting to be hinders the organic progress (as it always inevitably does), I repeat, ‘go with the flow’ like a mantra to clear my mind and create with instinct, not thought. It seems to me that the words translated into movement, water, waves in this work and I could see the word, flow, on there before I enunciated the letters. And so the painting became. As always, I have written all the materials used upon it and my medium incudes a TON of beach trash, and construction debris.
Beach debris:- plastic strapping- rope- large chunks of peeling concrete paint- random plastic bits- rubber glove- neoprene surf glove- hose- bungee cord- rubber bike handle- lobster trap ID tags- soccer ball rubber lining- Bait bag- woven plastic- maybe an erosion retaining bag
