Gulf Sunset Diptych
'Gulf Sunset Diptych' was created by breaking down large chunks of white popcorn foam into its individual kernels. During the Great Boston Harbor Island Clean, over two tons of Styrofoam was recovered. Most were in the form of large cubes used for dock floats. Over half of the foam was the white popcorn type which is unable to be recycled. I committed to figuring out a way to repurpose some of this terrible material that so easily begins to break down into little kernels and enter the ocean, water ways, and soil. It is my hope that I can transform harmful materials like foam into art that creates joy and beauty
