South Beach is inspired by the wild beauty of Martha’s Vinyard beaches. It is created from the material I cleaned off of Peddocks Island in the September 2025. The clean, organized by Laura Ludwig, Director of Marine Debris, at the Center for Coastal Studies removed more than 20,000 lbs of material over four days. Material used includes styrofoam, Mylar balloon, styrofoam packaging, bubble wrap, fishing rope, bungee cord, linoleum flooring, fiberglass, and much more. My pet name for this painting is 'Happy Birthday' because I used four happy birthday mylar balloons. See if you can find the words scattered throughout the piece.

Creation Process
Jackie’s primary medium is marine debris that she cleans off Massachusetts beaches. The beach trash and marine debris that she works with includes fishing rope, balloons, bottle caps, buoys, plastic packaging, lobster traps, and much more.
